Silvester served in the local militia and was later a laborer. In 1841 Silvester (60 Angus) resided at Mid Wynd, Hawkhill, Dundee with R. Hilocks (male, 55 Angus).

 

Silvester died at age 72, listed as born in Dundee (Monifieth is a suburb of Dundee).

The link to parents is uncertain and based on age, location, an eldest son named John [named after cousin John Easson], and son Peter born in Broughty Ferry next to Monifieth. All other known Peter Doigs born in this period are confirmed to different marriages and parents.

 

In 1810 Peter was a soldier in the local militia. By 1813 he was a stone mason.

Notes: Euphemia was a dressmaker. She did not marry. Obituary - "The Scotsman" 22 May 1871, page 2: Dundee - Dreadful Fall from a Window - On Saturday, about half-past twelve o'clock, a shocking accident occurred at Crighton's Close, Murraygate, Dundee, which created a great sensation in the neighborhood. A woman, named Euphemia Doig, who occupied a house on the fourth storey of a tenement in the Murraygate, was preparing to hang out cloths to dry at the window looking into the close. The line on which the cloths were to be hung was tied to each side of the window, and to a long pole projecting from it. While leaning on this pole, it gave way, and she fell headlong into the Court below, where the unfortunate woman was found quite dead. It is supposed that death had resulted from a concussion of the brain. The deceased, who was unmarried, was about forty-five years of age, and maintained herself by keeping lodgers.
