James Doig (A001) was born about 1769 in Scotland.
James married Margaret Littlejohn on 23 Dec 1794
in Perth. Margaret was christened 7 June 1778 in Perth, the daughter of
Laurence Littlejohn and Euphan Doeg; her parents were married 3
June 1776 in Perth. Laurence was born in 1746/51 in Perthshire and Euphan
in 1770/6 in Perthshire. They also had children John Littlejohn christened
2 July 1780 in Perth and Janet Littlejohn born 9 Sept 1784 and christened
13 Sept 1784 in Perth. In 1841 Euphan, Laurence, a weaver, and their daughter
Janet lived on the south side of Cross Street, Perth.
James was a weaver in Earls Dykes, Perth.

First Generation
Robert Doig (B001, by A001) was born 27 Dec 1795 and christened
3 Jan 1796 in Perth by Mr. David Sangster, Minister to the Desenting Congregation
in Perth.
Robert married Helen Keir. Helen was born 24 Aug
1801 in Dunkeld, Perthshire, the daughter of David Keir and Elspet McIntosh;
her parents were married 25 Oct 1795 in Dunkeld. Helen died between 1851
and 1853.
In 1841 Robert was a linen manufacturer in Bankfoot,
Auchtergaven, Perthshire. In 1851 Robert was a linen hand loom weaver living
at 57 Dunkeld Road, Bankfoot. At home were his wife, children Mary, Bathia,
Jean, Janet, Ann, John, and Margaret; also grandchildren Mary Forrest and
Allen Forrest. Robert moved to Perth in 1853.
Robert died 4 Nov 1855 at Barossa Street, Perth.
George Henderson (C006), son-in-law, was witness. He was buried in the
Churchyard at Auchtergaven.

Mary married first James Forrest on 27 Jan 1843
in Auchtergaven. James was a mill wright. He died between 1851 and 1859.
In 1851 Mary was a linen hand loom weaver living
with her parents at 57 Dunkeld Road, Bankfoot, Auchtergaven. She was still
married with her two children, but her husband was not with her.
Mary married second James Fenwick on 25 Feb 1859
at Barossa Place, Perth. Witnesses were Charles Conquerer (C009) and Janet
Doig (C009). James was born in 1834/5, the son of William Fenwick, journeyman
shoemaker, and Janet Finn. He signed his name "X" and was a plasterer’s
laborer living on High Street, Perth.

Alexander Doig (C004, by B001) was christened 21 Dec 1829 in
Auchtergaven.
Alexander married first Agnes Ramsay on 19 Oct 1858
at Regent Terrace, Central District, Glasgow. Witnesses were James Jarner
and Mary Donaldson. Agnes was born in 1829/30, the daughter of Peter Ramsay,
farmer, and Catherine Downie. She died in 1859 in Perth, probably from
childbirth.
In 1858 Alexander was a shoemaker at 10 Guilding
Court, Glasgow. In 1859 he was a Private in the Royal Perthshire Rifles
living at Militia Barracks, Perth.
Alexander married second Margaret Lamont on 4 Aug
1859 at 97 High Street, Perth. Witnesses were Duncan McPherson and Jane
Murdoch. Margaret was born in 1834/5 in Perth, the daughter of Alexander
Lamont (deceased), vintner, and Ann Thomson. She signed her name "X" and
lived at 97 High Street, Perth. Margaret died in 1901 or 1901 in Perth.
In 1861 Alexander was a journeyman shoemaker living
on High Street, Perth. In 1881 he was a peddler in St. Paul’s district
of Perth; at home were his wife and children James, Margaret, and Robert.
The other five children had died. In 1891 Alexander and Margaret lived
in Perth.

Thomas Anderson. George was born in 1832/3 in Perth, the son of George
Henderson, weaver, and Jane Robertson. He was a painter living on High
Street, Perth. George died between 1855 and 1870.
Jane married second George White on 28 Mar 1870
at 13 Butcher Row, St. Clement, Dundee, the bride’s home. Witnesses were
Allan Forrest and Margaret Murdoch. George was born in 1837/8, the son
of John White, foreman in a timber yard, and Hannah Walker. He was a seaman
living at 19 Liversage Street, Derby.

wedding of her sister Mary.
Janet married Charles Conquerer on 10 June 1859
at 14 Barossa Place, Perth, the bride’s home. Witnesses were Thomas Fenton
and Allison Conquerer. Charles was born in 1830/1, the son of Charles Conquerer
(deceased), printer, and Ann Fenton. He was a journeyman house painter
living on South Street, Perth.

with her.
Ann married first Robert Hutton on 31 Dec 1863 in
Lochee, Dundee. Witness were John Doig and Margaret Doig. Robert was born
in 1840/1, the son of Robert Hutton, general laborer, and Helen Thomson.
He was a power loom tenter living on Mice Street, Lochee. He became a painter.
Robert left her a widow.
Ann married second W. Mortimer on 5 Nov 1869 at
10 Tay Square, 1st District, Dundee. Witnesses were Robert McMath
and Euphemia McMath. William Cathro Mortimer was born 11 June 1826 in Dundee,
the son of William Mortimer, flaxdresser, and Ann Malcolm; his parents
were married 17 June 1816 in Dundee. He was a flax dresser living at 18
Fish Street, Dundee. At the time Ann was a linen dresser living at the
same address.
[There is a conflict with Stewart Barber Hutton
born in 1872 and Ann remarried to William Mortimer in 1869. Recheck marriage
records.]

and Marion Wilson. Mary was born in 1850/1 in Perth, the daughter of Bernard
Mulholland, hawker, and Elizabeth Kirkpatrick.
In 1870 John was a hawker living on High Street,
Dunfermline. In 1881 he was a hawker in Dundee with wife and son James.

Margaret married James Haigh on 7 July 1865 at St.
Paul’s Church, Seagate, Dundee. Witnesses were Thomas Imrie and Mary Forrest.
James was christened 12 Feb 1835 in Halifax, Yorkshire, England, the son
of Samuel Haigh, cloth calenderer, and Sarah Longbottom; his parents were
married 8 Sept 1828 in Halifax. He was a journeyman cork cutter living
on Butcher row, Dundee. James died between 1868 and 1872.
Margaret married second James Watson Cathro on 2
Feb 1972 at 6 Wellington Street, St. Andrew, Dundee. Witnesses were James
Watson Jr. and Jean Cowley. James was born 11 Aug 1822 in Dundee, the son
of John Cathro, linen weaver, and Margaret Campbell; his parents were married
15 Oct 1821 in Dundee. He was the widower of Isabella Gordon Forester who
he had married 31 Dec 1852 in Dundee. He was a linen weaver, and he and
Margaret lived at 38 Hilltown, Dundee.
