Thomas Duncan and John Toddie were also witnesses to the christenings of children of Alexander Peatie and Christian Davidson born in 1654 and 1657.

      In 1662 John lived in Paremill, in 1668-9 in St. Andrews, and in 1672 in Cartfoord Mill.  In 1681 he lived in Parkingham. John became a laborer in Boarhills (Byrehills), 3 miles south of St. Andrews.

      At John's burial the family paid £3 for the mortcloth.

      Alexander was a clockmaker at the time of his marriage.  In 1810 he was a clock and watch maker living at 5 St. Ann Street, Edinburgh.  He lived in Musselburgh, Midlothian from 1814.  He won a prize of £5, 5s from the Society of Arts for Scotland for his description of the model of a clock pendulum without the crutch. In the 1842/3 Musselburgh Directory he is listed as a watchmaker at 71 High Street. In 1851 Alexander was a watchmaker residing on High Street, Fishennous, Musselburgh, Inveresk, Midlothian with his wife Jane and children Jane (dressmaker), John (laborer), Alison (dressmaker), and George (shoemaker), and granddaughter Jane Wilson (2 Inveresk).

      On 18 Nov 1815 Daniel, a wright, and Sophia acquired a house in East Wemyss in fee and liferent, respectively, sasined 25 Jan 1822 and recorded 25 Mar 1822.  On 23 Jan 1826 they acquired a barn and yard in East Wemyss, sasined 28 Apr 1826 and recorded 19 June 1826; this property was security for a bond of £80 on 25 July 1825, sasined by the Wemyss Generous Society on 26 July 1826, and recorded 14 Sept 1826.  In 1841 and 1851 Daniel was a boat carpenter and wright living in East Wemyss; with his in 1841 was his wife Sophia and children Christian (dress maker), Sophia (linen weaver), Jean (apprentice linen weaver), and Janet; and with him in 1851 were his wife, daughter, Janet, and grandson, James Grub.

Robert enlisted on 3 May 1858 at Stirling in the 92nd Regiment of the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders.  In Oct 1858 he arrived in India, serving at Umballa, Dugshai, Allahabad, Calcutta, Jubbulore, Dum Dum, Camp Barrateur, Allahabad, and Kamptu.  He was promoted to corporal in Sept 1862 in the 92nd and July 1863 in the 91st Highlander, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, to sergeant in 1866 and colour sergeant in 1867 in the 91st. Robert returned to England and Scotland in Sept 1868 where he served at Dover, Aldershot, Fort George in 1873, Edinburgh, Newry, Curragh Camp, Stirling, Enniskillen, Belfast, Dublin, and finally at Stirling.  He became sergeant-major in 1876.  He took his final discharge at Stirling on 3 June 1879.  At that time he was described as 5' 11" tall, grey eyes, brown hair, and a fresh complexion. In 1881 Robert was a pensioner and lived in Moulin, Perth. In 1891 and 1901 he and Annie lived in Scone, Perth.       In 1851 census she is listed as a widow and in 1871 as married; her death certificate lists her as single.

      In 1851 Agnes Doig, "widow," was a linen weaver living with her mother in the Village of Springfield, Cupar.  In 1871 Agnes, "married", lived in Springfield with her son, Alexander, a mason.

      Agnes' death certificate was witnesses by her son Alexander Doig of Springfield, Cupar. He listed his mother as single, age 57, the daughter of Robert Doig, laborer, and Elizabeth McLeod.

      Agnes died by suicide between 17 and 20 July 1872.  From the Fifeshire Journal dated 25 July 1872 under the Springfield news:  "A middle-aged woman named Agnes Doig who has for some time been in a weak state of mind went amissing from her home here on the morning of Wednesday, the 17th inst.  On Saturday her body was found in a mill lade at Peterhead near this place [Collessie Parish].  There was a deep stab in the throat and a table knife belonging to the deceased was lying near her body.  It is supposed she had stabbed herself with the knife and then fallen into the water.  Her remains were interred at Monimail on Sunday."

      [Agnes' son, Alexander, listed his father as George Doig, laborer, and mother as Agnes McLeod on his marriage certificate. On his death certificate his parents are listed as George Doig, quarry laborer, and Agnes Doig.  This George Doig may have been her younger brother, a case of incest that later led to her suicide.]

      In 1805 David was a weaver in Kingsbarns.  In 1841 David, Charlotte and son John were living at Cottagerow, Kingsbarns, and they were linen weavers.  In 1851 David was a widower living at Cottage Row with his children, John and Charlotte.  He became a cotton manufacturer.

      Witness to David's death certificate was his son, Alexander.

      MARRIAGE to Elizabeth Spence: They contracted marriage on 24 July 1795 in Dundee. Both were listed from Dundee, with James as a weaver and Elizabeth as the daughter if George Spence.
